This chapter is dedicated to Anatoli Yevgenyevich Karpov. My favourite chess player has always been the twelfth world champion Anatoly Yevgenyevich "Tolya" Karpov, world champion between 1975-1985.
The best chess writers in my opinion are at the moment Jan Timman, Mark Dvoretsky and Garry Kasparov. Kasparov´s book "Garry Kasparov on My Great predecessors / On Modern Chess" is warmly recommended. Alexei Shirov's "Fire on Board" and Kramnik´s and Damsky´s "Kramnik: My life and games" ovat also excellent books. J.E. Littlewood´s book "How to play the middle game in chess" is a classic. Judit Polgar´s book "How I beat Fiscer´s record Teaches Chess 1" is also very good.
A good chess column is in my opinion Chess Cafe.
